HIV and AIDS project at Mfuleni next to Khayelisha in Cape Town

This is one of the townships in Cape Town where i run Bible studies and HIV/AIDS support groups.

This is the community in Cape town that most of the young people  are infected with HIV, and what i have found out is that most of my age group they die in the early stages of HIV.

The  cause for this is that they dont want the community to know their status. Most of them are afriad of what the community will think of them and how they will treat them, most of them feel that the have failed their families and friends and thier loved ones.

Stigma is one of the biggest things we face in the fight against HIV/AIDS.  The approach I have taken has been to just became friends with man y of these young people and someone that they can trust in because most of them are lacking in trust but  is one of the big things they long for. Typically this is why they cant even disclose to thier families about thier status cause some of them they lack trust and the difficult with this situation is that with out a family member knowing about their status and someone that will keep them accountable to take the AVR's the government provides they are not able to even receive the ARV's.

These are just some of the issues we are facing that I thought I would share with you.
